Google Reviews
EXCELLENT Based on 50 reviews Posted on Google Phil BaughmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a terrible experience last year with a new Savage Mark II rimfire in .22 LR. The machining was sub-par; headspace measured a loose .045" and wouldn't shoot ELEY ammunition with regularity. After receiving the rifle back from the factory Savage Service, a machining bur had been replaced, but nothing done about headspace (the Mark II cannot use bolt shims). I sold the rifle to a friend that just wanted a good shooter and wasn't into competition. Enter Whidden Gun Works in my life! Following their recommendations, I ordered a CZ-457 Varmint .22 LR, an MDT Field Stock, Timney Trigger with an aluminum mag well, and Whidden Gun Works altered striker and Criterion 26" threaded barrel. First assembly, I knew I had something special here. February 17, 2026, I headed to the range at 22 degrees and sighted in at 50 yards for the first time. Not one single flyer, and several ammo types were used (my fingers were freezing). The results are as follows. On the second range day (much better performance) seeing how this new rifle performs accuracy with most kinds of ammunition. I also opened my first box of ELEY TENEX and the rest is now my go too choice with this barrel. Saturday 4-11-2026 my brother and a friend went on a perfect weather day here in Indiana (77 degrees, with zero wind) and went to our 100-yard range. Others were shooting so no time to post targets, we used the A500 steel targets. I began with the 1" wide swinging steel target and hit it 8 out of 10 times! This is .22 LR and the accuracy is incredible. The barrel is also threaded, and the suppressor did not affect the accuracy. So glad I listened to a technician from Whidden Gun Works who told me to get their 26" Criterion CZ-457 barrel and striker pin as he said they had really good accuracy on their test range. All their advice, service and help are truly appreciated.Posted on Google Anthony BrownTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Went down for the Elly test range.
